(provided by students, how the company should improve its report)

Reassess their understanding of key areas such as materiality, impact along the value chain etc. more thoroughly and make sure that the next report will not focus on core business areas (customers & products) – which would greatly enhance credibility and transparency of the report and make it less of a PR product.

A reassessment of relevant materiality issues would follow, making them more impact-oriented.

A visualisation of progress towards goals would also help.

Although all goals are described, there is no prioritization. For me as a reader is not understandable, which has the highest importance for the company. Here, for example, a tabular presentation of the goals would be very good.

Spar should also provide an English version of their sustainability report in order to make it available for everyone to read.

The PDF version of the sustainability report is not very appealing. It does not make use of all the opportunities media offers nowadays. This is an important aspect as it would enhance the user-friendliness. For SPAR this is essential because its target group is very diverse (customers, investors etc.). Therefore, it would attract more attention and elevate the level of comprehension if SPAR put extra effort into the design aspect and work on an interactive online version of the report.
