(provided by students, how the company should improve its report)

My recommendation for ANDRITZ and their report is first to look again at their chosen material topics. Many material topics have been chosen because of their impact on ANDRITZ, rather than because of the company´s impact on others. Also, the importance of the topics was chosen mostly having the company´s benefits in mind.

They should research not only the topics that seem relevant for the company but also what their impact is onto the topics and what are positive/negative developments, what problems do the work on/exist/have been solved, what are the stakeholders (and maybe not from 4 years ago relate to a URL that doesn’t work) – show in the report the process of stakeholder inclusion for evaluating the topics and what the impact of company is on them and what is done to improve it (if negative impact). If there’s no CSR department, make one, get specialists or external services to set up process and include CSR into overall strategy.

The company should list all the internal as well as external stakeholders and then look at the impact it has on these stakeholders. Then it should also structure the report according to the importance of the material topics.

The relevant stakeholders could not be identified due to lack of information

The report does not explain to which extent goals have already been achieved or until when the various goals should be achieved. In order to improve this point, a timeline would be appropriate that shows when which goal should be achieved. Textually, I would describe the measures to achieve the goals in more detail. In addition, I would also address negative points such as unresolved problems and measures on how the company intends to solve them.

Create a stand-alone sustainability / CSR report, with additional key figures from the years before, to compare values

less advertorial, more balanced

The report seems as if CSR is just a side project, and not important to the company. They should change that!

Include more graphics at the respective main points to support reading comprehension. In addition, the existing graphics could be made more appealing.

The report could have been made more visually appealing like for example with more graphs and pictures.
